In the i25 Patch Notes
, there is a file called resume_info.txt
referenced, but detail upon its usage is not given.
Filesystem adjustment:I will show you how to use this file to automatically log into the game when you launch it from
The game will no longer try to write to hardcoded paths like c:\, c:\cryptic\scratch and similar. If you use resume_info.txt to store your password, it should now go to the base directory (where the game is installed).
Tequila Cream Soda.
If you are not comfortable storing your /coxg/ login credentials in a plain text file, this is probably not for you. If you just want to play the game and aren't paranoid that everyone is out to get you, here you go.
For i24, the path must be: c:\resume_info.txtFor i25, the path must be: <your game path>\resume_info.txt
The syntax of this file is simple: Two lines of text, the first being your username and the second being your password. Each line must have a line break at the end.
If you do not include this, it will not work.
username<line break>Next, you need to be able to launch the game with the command line: -crypticTequila and Cream Soda seem to offer this option, but it is broken and will give you an error.
You can work around this by duplicating CreamSoda.xml in the same directory. Call it autologin.xml and edit it. Don't bother editing CreamSoda.xml as Tequila will just overwrite your changes.
Inside autologin.xml you will see a line similar to this:
<launch exec="coxg.exe" order="1" website="https://www.thunderspygaming.net/" params="-patchdir coxg -patchversion 2400.201208211101.1 -auth 126.96.36.199 -noversioncheck">/coxg/</launch>
Change it to append the -cryptic command line parameter to the end:
<launch exec="coxg.exe" order="1" website="https://www.thunderspygaming.net/" params="-patchdir coxg -patchversion 2400.201208211101.1 -auth 188.8.131.52 -noversioncheck -cryptic">/coxg/</launch>Once you have saved your new xml file, you must add it to Cream Soda as an option:
Launch Cream Soda, select /coxg/ server and click Options.
Under "Manifests" type the complete local path of your autologin.xml file. For example:
G:\Games\City of Heroes\autologin.xml
Click Add, then OK.Above the giant "Play" button, you may now select your autologin.xml file from the launcher's dropdown.
Your password will be automatically entered.
NOTE: You may one day get a version mismatch with the server, as this method of logging in will stop your game from auto-patching. If it happens, simply relaunch Cream Soda, select the official XML, let it patch, then redo your XML edit. Hopefully, the Tequila and Cream Soda teams will fix the need for this work-around!
